About Maria

Originally from Germany, I came to London in 1987 for a short holiday and never quite made it back. After graduating from Middlesex University in 1999, I moved to Truro in sunny Cornwall where I have been practicing as a medical herbalist ever since.

At Middlesex University, I studied Herbal Medicine, a 4-year course which includes all medical subjects such as anatomy, physiology, diagnostic skills, clinical science, pharmacology, pharmacy, as well as botany, therapeutics, materia medica, pharmacognosy (the science of plant chemicals), chemistry, nutrition, counselling, ethics.

During the last two years the students started treating patients at the Archway Training Clinic for Herbal Medicine which is at the Whittington Hospital in Archway, North London, first supervised then independently, as well as seeing patients at the Women's Centre in Camden, North London.

Although as a Medical Herbalist I used to be member of the National Institute of Medical Herbalists (NIMH) but have stopped being a member for various reasons.
